I believe in what I do, I am passionate about what I do, and I know that I can help people with their issues that prevent them from experiencing the best quality of life possible.
Areas of Expertise
Psychiatric Medication Management &
Psychotherapy
People often ask what my credentials mean (ARNP, PMHNP-BC). I am an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Nationally Board Certified in that specialty. I work very much as a Psychiatrist in that I am licensed to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe the appropriate psychiatric medications for the patients I treat, and regularly monitor my patient’s progress. In addition, I am professionally trained and practice psychotherapy, either solely or in conjunction with psychotropic medication management. I can treat a variety of psychiatric or mental illnesses.
Specifically, I have specialized in:
- Anxiety disorders
- Depression
- Bipolar illness
- Mood disorders
- ADD/ADHD
- Insomnia
- PTSD
- Addictions and recovery support
- Grief and loss
- Etc…
Please note: new patients must be 18 years old or older.

About Me
Education & Experience
I am extremely passionate about the work that I do and take great pride in helping each and every one of the patients I treat. My treatment approach is individualized and tailored to each person’s needs. I feel it is important to educate along the way, so that treatment suggestions or approaches are fully understood. I take the time that is needed both on the comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation and follow-up visits. My priority is helping those I treat to reach their fullest potential possible, and increase their quality of life that they deserve!
I currently have a private outpatient Psychiatric Mental Health Practice in Highlands, NC since August 2018. I am now here full-time. Prior to this, I had a very full outpatient practice in Naples, Florida as well as working at the Counseling Center at Florida Gulf Coast University in SW Florida, working in the Psychiatric Department.
I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in their Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Graduate program with Summa Cum Laude honors. I chose this university because of its excellent reputation and longevity of their esteemed Medical School.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY

I cannot thank Rachel enough for all of the support she has given me. I have seen many other mental health practitioners with no luck. When I thought there was no hope left, I came across Rachel's website online and scheduled an appointment. Since seeing her, Rachel has worked tirelessly to adjust my medications and found a combo that has truly altered my life. Thank you, Rachel!

Dr. Rachel is a gem and treasure for the western North Carolina community. Over the past 14 years, I have flown to Boston quarterly and order to find someone like Rachel: engaged and current. She strikes the perfect balance between behavioral and medicinal approaches. Specifically, what I like most about her is that she is a minimalist in that she helps the mentee get to the basics around medicine and self care/ creating a safe team & space that promote lasting well being. I recommend her to anyone seeking a dependable, trustworthy and direct mental health specialist.

Rachel has been such a blessing in my family and I's life. Helping me find the right medication for me has made me a better husband, father, brother, and friend.
I would recommend her services 100x over.
